Our Classes

We are proud to offer

Comfort Measures‎

This is not a full prenatal class. This is a hands-on session to practise coping strategies and to help you find practical tips for your labour and birth.

Dress comfortably, bring a birth/pilates ball if you have one, a pillow, and a yoga mat or bath towel for your comfort. We will practice positions on the floor. Inspired by Lamaze, Bonapace, rebozo, yoga, visualization, cranial-sacral therapy, and years of Doula experience.

This class was designed as a complement to our prenatal class (group or private). It is also a great refresher for those who have already taken a prenatal course, are having another baby, or are preparing for a VBAC, and is specifically designed for those wanting strategies to avoid pharmaceutical pain relief.

Labour partners are encouraged to support the birthing person and are expected to complete some homework.
Pregnant people who would like to come on their own are so welcome and invited to work directly with the facilitator / experienced Doula, Brandie Lekovic.

 This 3-hour class is $85.

Refund Policy: Classes cancelled from the time of booking until 14 days before the class start incur a $25 administration fee. Classes cancelled between 7-14 days; 50% cancellation fee. Classes cancelled with less than 7 days’ notice; no refund

People who took our class had this to say:

We dearly want to support the health of expectant families.

This class was worth every penny for new parents!

Pre Natal – with Michelle Morra

Brandie is an exceptional teacher, I really enjoyed her teaching style and found all the information to be super informative. She made me feel more confident in my body and the birthing process and took away some fear of labour. I also enjoyed listening to her experiences as a doula matched with the information of what was happening medically. Brandie is very approachable and I felt really comfortable asking questions and having a dicussion.

We appreciated all the information presented in the Bringing Baby Home course. It not only filled in some of the gaps in our knowledge, but it put everything together in a way that let us get a solid idea of what life with baby will be like. We would definitely recommend it to any new parents. Our instructor was amazing - approachable, incredibly knowledgeable and experienced (as a mother of four herself) - and she presented balanced views and dealt with controversial issues in a sensitive and accessible way.

Brandie sent us SO many links and provided us with a lot of different reading materials... a dream for someone like me who loves information

The prenatal class through OCEA was amazing! It was so nice receiving information with my partner by my side. It led us to having continued conversations in our own home about pregnancy, our plans for labour, delivery, and postpartum. Brandie is an incredible educator. She makes everyone feel at ease, she is hilarious, honest, and nonjudgmental. She wants the best for each couple simply by making sure you are informed with the best information out there

Erin is AMAZING! She is warm, supportive and beyond knowledgeable. She is always available to answer questions. The way she presents information is truly superior. I’m sad that our course is over and we won’t see her on a regular basis. Erin truly made the experience. My husband and I are so happy we took this course and had her as our instructor. Thank you so much, Erin!!

My partner and I took the Pre Natal Class with OCEA. The class was hosted on Zoom, since the COVID-19 pandemic meant we had to have a virtual class. Our teacher, Julia, really made this class top-notch. We learned about all our different birthing options in Ottawa and what to expect from each, including any adjustments resulting from the pandemic. It was comforting to learn the current standard of care we can expect in Ottawa, and how this matches the most recent scientific information about birthing. The local information is really what makes this class worthwhile compared to reading a general pre-natal book. We left the class feeling informed and empowered in our choice of care and our choice of birthing place.

We can't imagine NOT having taken the course! Not only did we learn a lot of useful things but with the money we'll save not buying unnecessary items the course paid for itself!! We highly recommend every new parent take this course!

We were very impressed with the OCEA "Bringing Baby Home" course. It was well-paced and kept my attention, but also had enough time to ask questions and try some "hands-on" work such as straddling and baby-wearing. The instructor was fantastic and I left the class feeling much more confidant about what's to come. Perhaps most importantly, we gained the knowledge of where to go for help in the community and when to seek help.

Sure! The OCEA Bringing Baby Home class was one of the most valuable experiences that my partner and I have had coming into our experience as first-time parents. Our educator was knowledgeable and approachable, not just about the science but also about resources in the community. I would HIGHLY recommend this class for any parent-to-be. It was well worth the investment of time (a weekend) and money (but it was reasonably priced!).

The value of this class cannot be understated. Even with all the research that I did on my own beforehand, I still learned so many new things about what to expect for the labour and delivery process as well as post natal. We had a great instructor and meeting other moms and sharing experiences helped me to feel more connected and validated in my own experience. Thanks again to Brandie for a great weekend.

My husband and I expected a baby-basics class. What we ended up getting out of the Bringing Baby Home course was plenty of up-to-date information on just about everything baby-related, reliable resources we didn't even know existed, and, most importantly, peace of mind! We would highly recommend this class to all expecting couples. Even if you have done other prenatal classes, you will not regret doing the BBH course.
