Maternity blues typically starts on the third post partum day and affects 85% of women. Some women continue to experience feelings of tearfulness, anxiety, irritability, insomnia and poor concentration for up to six weeks.  If your symptoms last longer than two weeks, interferes with daily functioning, or if you have thoughts of harming yourself or your baby it is important to seek help and support.
